Sunrise Watching in Bali

Bali is usually famous for its sunset, plenty of places offering the best spot for its sunset situation. However, sunrise on the island makes a majestic spectacle too that will convert you to a morning person when you are not already.

Here are some of the best spots where you can enjoy the sun rising in the morning.

Pantai Matahari Terbit

Sanur is a well-known spot for sunrise watching, especially at Pantai Matahari Terbit, which translates as Sunrise Beach. Come early at 6 AM to save the best spot while waiting for the sun greeting the earth.

And for those who are health-conscious, take part in locals’ favourite morning past-time of cycling or jogging along the Sanur shoreline.

Gunung Batur

Located in Bangli and just an hour away from Padma Resort Ubud, lies Gunung Batur, the second tallest mountain in Bali at 1,717 metres high. The gunung or mountain is known for its sunrise trek among tourists and locals. It’s recommended to start the hike at 3 AM, giving enough time to reach the top of the mountain.

Make sure you’re wearing proper climbing shoes or sandals during the hike, rest properly the night before and bring enough water. Most importantly, enjoy the view and take plenty of pictures to commemorate your accomplishment in hiking to the top of Mount Batur.

Bukit Asah

Bukit Asah is believed by locals to be the place where the Gods and humans meet. Bukit Asah – bukit translates as hill – is located in Bug Bug Village, East Bali. Locals like to flock to the area for a camping trip.

Here in Bukit Asah, not only you’ll get to enjoy the sunrise, but also the sunset – it’s one of the few places in Bali where you can enjoy two of mother nature’s wonderful phenomenon.

Amed

An hour away from Bukit Asah is the understated fishing village of Amed, the perfect sunrise place thanks to its location in the east of Bali. Moreover, it is an established site for diving and snorkelling and makes the perfect getaway for those who would like to experience Bali as it used to be back in the day.

Padma Resort Ubud

If you’re staying at our resort, then you’re in for a treat, since we have one of the best sunrise views in Payangan, Ubud. Witness the majestic sunrise by our infinity pool, as the sunlight reflects on the misty pool water. You may also enjoy the sunrise while doing our Sunrise Yoga class, for the ultimate mind and body experience in the beautiful natural outdoors overlooking the verdant hills of Payangan.
