Dalgona Creations, The Internet’s Favourite Drinks

Hi everyone, how are you doing?

You probably have heard of Dalgona, and have seen it going around the internet since roughly the start of the quarantine period. So what exactly is Dalgona? It is a type of drink, initially consists of whipped coffee on top, served with milk and ice. The drink itself is originated from India, Pakistan, and Macau where it is also known as “beaten coffee” but then the trend started in Korea when a Korean star Jung II-wo appeared on a TV show drinking this whipped coffee at an eatery in Macau. Since then, Dalgona has quickly taken the internet by storm, perhaps because it is easy to make and pretty fun too!

People now create their own variations of Dalgona to post on the internet as a #dalgonachallenge, and here are ours…

The Classic

  • 2 Tbs instant coffee
  • 2 Tbs sugar
  • 2 Tbs ice water

Fluffy Matcha

  • 3 Tbs matcha powder
  • 1 Tsp whipped cream powder
  • 3 Tbs ice water/ cold milk

Tools :

  • Whisk – or electric mixer, if you feel a little less adventurous 😉
  • Bowl (make sure it fits the whisk)
  • Table spoon
  • Tea spoon

To make, simply mix all the ingredients together and whisk until it thickens. Then pour a glass of cold milk, add the whipped mixture on top, and complete with the toppings of your choice – we like chocolate sprinkles and chocolate bars.

Have fun and don’t forget to tag us on Instagram when you share your Dalgona creations!

We will be booking for the Padma as soon as the flights commence. We have always done the three nights at Ubud and then the four nights at Legian. We love the relaxed atmosphere of both places and find the staff wonderful. Last time we were at Ubud, we went down to the river for a walk and one of the lovely security men walked all the way back with us to make sure we were alright. We are in our eighties, but quite fit, but very much appreciated his kindness. Glad to receive your emails and wish you all the best until we can join you again. Love to all, Judith
